February 8… Black Baseball in Cleveland
- This presentation discusses the impact and influence of Negro League Baseball on economic, social, and family life in Cleveland between the 1920s and 1950. In addition, it highlights and recognizes the many Black professional teams that called Cleveland home and ended with the Cleveland Buckeyes team, which won the Negro League World Series in 1945.
March 8 ...1903 and 1904 Championship Series
- Cuban X-Giants vs Philadelphia Giants In a pair of series in 1903 and 1904 the Cuban X-Giants and Philadelphia Giants clashed for what was then called the Colored Championship of Baseball. The two heavyweights of Black baseball featured all the brightest stars of the day, including Home Run Johnson, Sol White, Frank Grant, and Andrew Foster, a young pitcher who'd recently acquired a nickname by defeating major league star Rube Waddell.

- With his keen eye for talent, Wilbur Hayes masterfully built the Cleveland Buckeyes into a negro League power during their brief existence. This presentation will highlight his accomplishments as well as his role in the re-integration of major league baseball.

July 12… 1916 Negro Championship Series – Indianapolis ABCs vs Chicago American Giants
- In the days before organized leagues, leading Black teams took it upon themselves to arrange series to determine the unofficial champion of Black Baseball. In 1916, Rube Foster’s Chicago American Giants locked horns with C.I. Taylor’s Indianapolis ABCs in a contentious and controversial ten-game set. Featuring Hall of Famers Pete Hill, John Henry Lloyd, Oscar Charleston, and Ben Taylor, as well as other stars like Bruce Petway, Frank Wickware, Dizzy DIsmukes and Bingo DeMoss, this 1916 championship encounter offers a fascinating glimpse into deadball era Blackball.
August 9… The 1935 East-West All-Star Game
- The third edition of the East-West Game was the most dramatic and memorable in the event's 30-year history. The East jumped out to a 4-0 lead, the West came back to send the contest into extras, bothteams scored 4 runs in a remarkable 10th inning, and the West won it in the 11th on the most famoushome run in Negro League history. Join us and 13 Hall of Famers as we relive a Blackball classic.

Join us in celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Cleveland Buckeyes Negro League championship with this presentation that takes a look at the players who brought the city glory, and their World Series clash with the Negro National League champion Homestead Grays. It will also feature the video ‘Records in the Sand’ narrated by Cleveland TV personality Leon Bibb telling the story of the 1945 Colored World Series
champion Cleveland Buckeyes.
October 11… The 1935 Championship Series – Pittsburgh Crawfords vs New York Cubans
- The most glamorous team in Black baseball in the 1930s was the Pittsburgh Crawfords. Owner Gus Greenlee spared no expense with his ballclub: they wore the nicest uniforms, rode in the best bus, played in their own stadium, and featured the biggest stars: Josh Gibson, Oscar Charleston & Cool Papa Bell among them. But Pittsburgh had to fight back in a tense 7-game series against the New York Cubans to claim their only championship won on the diamond. Alex Pompez Cubans had their own galaxy of stars, including Martín Dihigo, Alejandro Oms, Lázaro Salazar, and Herbert Rap; Dixon.

December 6… ‘A Million Thrills’ – Ted Toles, Jr.
- This presentation highlights and recognizes the contributions of Ted Toles, Jr., a former professional baseball player from Braceville, Ohio, who played for several Negro Leagues teams, (Pittsburgh Crawfords, Cleveland Buckeyes, Newark Eagles, and Jacksonville Eagles) and in the minor league systems of the Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, and Philadelphia Athletics.
